ジョージ・マイケル所有のジョン・レノンのピアノ、ストロベリー・フィールドで展示
ジョン・レノンが「Imagine」を制作するときに使用したピアノ（SteinwayモデルZ）が、故郷リバプール、ストロベリー・フィールドの施設内で展示されることになった。このピアノは2000年にジョージ・マイケルが購入していた。
ジョージ・マイケルの遺産管理団体は、そのピアノの動画を公開し、「ジョン・レノンが20世紀の偉大な平和アンセムの1つ“Imagine”を作曲／レコーディングするのに使用した世界的に有名なあのピアノを、皆さんと分かち合うことができるのを嬉しく思います。リバプールのストロベリー・フィールドの展示会に貸し出します」と告知した。
「ジョージはザ・ビートルズとジョン・レノンの大ファンで、2000年にこのピアノを購入しました。彼はまた、彼のアルバム『Patience』のタイトル・ソングをこのピアノで作曲／プレイしました」「ピアノはストロベリー・フィールドの目玉となるでしょう。展示会の収益は、学習障害を抱える若者たちの人生を変えるのを助けるために使われます」

George was a huge fan of The Beatles and John Lennon, and purchased the piano in 2000. He also composed and played the piano on the title song of his Patience album.

The piano will now take centre-stage at Strawberry Field where all funds raised by paying visitors to the exhibition will be used to help change the lives of young people with learning difficulties.

ストロベリー・フィールドの公式サイト（Strawberryfieldliverpool.com）によると、ジョージ・マイケルは2000年10月、145万ポンド（現在のレートで約2億円）で購入（*オークションにて落札）。ジョージは当時から一般公開する考えだったという。彼は購入したとき「これは倉庫に保管したり、保護下にあるべきものではない。人々に観てもらうべきだ」とジャーナリストたちに話していたそうだ。
今週金曜日（10月9日）はジョン・レノンの80回目の誕生日で、それに合わせ公開される。レノンの少年時代の思い出の場所でザ・ビートルズの名曲の1つ「Strawberry Fields Forever」で歌われた、孤児院だったストロベリー・フィールドは2018年に再建され、特別な教育が必要な若者たちのトレーニング・センター、展示会スペース、カフェ、ショップ等がオープン。昨年9月より一般公開されている。
