マーキュリー・アワーズ、ウルフ・アリスが受賞
木曜日（9月20日）、英国の誉れある音楽賞マーキュリー・プライズの受賞作品が発表され、今年はウルフ・アリスの『Visions Of A Life』へ贈られた。
同アワードでは、ジャンルや知名度は問わず、英国／アイルランド出身のアーティストによるその年の最優秀アルバムを選出。審査員の中にはジャーナリスト、ブロードキャスター、ラジオDJらに加えミュージシャンも名を連ね、しばし、無名のアーティストが受賞することも──。
ウルフ・アリスの女性シンガー、エリー・ロウゼルは驚きと喜びに、言葉にならない様子ながら「3人のベスト・フレンドとこれを受賞できたのはものすごく意味がある」とコメント。ベーシストのセオ・エリスは、キャリア初期は異色と見られることもあったが、マーキュリー・プライズの受賞は、自分たちの正当性の証明となったと話した。

今年のマーキュリー・プライズには、アークティック・モンキーズの『Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino』、Everything Everythingの『A Fever Dream』、Everything is Recordedの『Everything is Recorded』、フローレンス＆ザ・マシーンの『High As Hope』、ジョルジャ・スミスの『Lost & Found』、King Kruleの『The Ooz』、リリー・アレンの『No Shame』、Nadine Shahの『Holiday Destination』、ノエル・ギャラガーズ・ハイ・フライング・バーズの『Who Built the Moon?』、Novelistの『Novelist Guy』、Sons of Kemetの『Your Queen is a Reptile』、ウルフ・アリスの『Visions of a Life』の12作品が候補に挙がっていた。
授賞式では、ノミネートされたアーティストたちが秀逸なパフォーマンスを見せた。
