フランツ・フェルディナンド、オリジナル・ドラマーのポール・トムソンが脱退
スコットランド出身のロック・バンド、フランツ・フェルディナンドが、オリジナル・ドラマーのポール・トムソンがバンドを脱退することを発表した。
メンバーは、「これを知ったとき、僕らはちょっとショックだった。君らにとってもそうだろう。ポールは25年にわたり、僕らの友達だった。少なくともあと25年はそうだと期待している。彼は面白く、粋で感性が豊かな男だ。ドラマーとしても結構いける。20年間一緒にツアーしてたら、家族同然だし、それがすぐに変わることはない。これまで冒険、体験を共有できたことを嬉しく思うし、彼が次に何をやるのか知らせを楽しみにしている」
トムソンは「20年近くやってきて、脇へ退くときが来た。2002年、自分の人生にこんなにいろんなことが待ち構えているとは思ってもいなかった。夢のようだった。まだ醒めてない。レコードを買ってくれた人たち、コンサートへ来てくれた人たち、体験を共有してくれた人たち、みんなに感謝したい。僕はこれを決して忘れない。フランツ・フェルディナンドはこれまでも、今も、これからも家族で、僕の大きな一部だ」と、コメントしている。
後任には、「世界トップレベルのドラマーの1人、グラスゴーでは知られた存在」であるドラマー、Audrey Taitが務めるという。トムソンからTaitにドラム・スティックが引き継がれる写真が公開された。
フランツ・フェルディナンドは2016年にギタリストのニック・マッカーシーが脱退し、オリジナル・メンバーはアレックス・カプラノス（Vo,G）、ボブ・ハーディ（B）の2人のみとなった。

Not a bad drummer either. You don’t spend 20 years touring the world with someone without them becoming like family and that isn’t going to change anytime soon. We’re glad we shared those adventures and experiences together and look forward to hearing what he gets up to next.

After having played with Paul for so long, it’s obvious that not just anyone could sit behind the kit in FF, so we’re happy to say that one of the other best drummers in the world is joining us.
