ブライアン・メイ、 “トリビュート・アクト”と評したジャーナリストに反論

ブライアン・メイが、7月14日カリフォルニア州サンノゼで開かれたクイーン＋アダム・ランバートの公演を観て“高給取りのトリビュート・アクト”と評したジャーナリストに対し、怒りをあらわにした。

クイーン＋アダム・ランバートは先週（7月10日）カナダで、新ワールド・ツアー＜The Rhapsody Tour＞を開幕し、その3日目となるサンノゼ公演について、地元の『The Mercury News』はアダム・ランバートを“トリビュート・アクト”と表すレビューを掲載した。

ブライアンはこれに対し、月曜日（15日）、インスタグラムに長文のメッセージを投稿。「地元の新聞で低能な批評家から“トリビュート・バンド”呼ばわりされるのは、すぐに忘れることはないであろう侮辱だと言っておかなくてはならない。Sonny Jim、僕らには君の偉そうな意見は必要ない。君がそこで拒絶しているのは、僕のライフワークだ。今夜、会場にいた素晴らしいロッキン・オーディエンスの中で“わかってない”のは君1人だけだったろうね」と、綴った。

Me and my Bro’ say THANKS San Jose for a great welcome tonight. Me and my Bro’ might disagree about anything you care to name, but we have learned mutual respect over the years, and somehow when we play together, some kind of magic still happens. All hail Rog !!! We are proud of what we are, an ouvre we have worked for nearly 50 years to create and constantly update. I have to say that being called a ‘tribute band’ by some half-assed critic in the local paper is an insult I will not quickly forget. We don’t need your condescension, Sonny Jim. That’s my life’s work you’re dismissing there. I guess you’re the only one who didn’t really ’get it’ in that wonderful rockin’ crowd tonight in the good ol’ SAP Center.
