布袋寅泰、ギャング・オブ・フォーのトリビュートアルバムに参加
布袋寅泰が、ギャング・オブ・フォーのトリビュートアルバム『The Problem of Leisure: A Celebration of Andy Gill and Gang of Four』に参加することが発表された。「To Hell With Poverty」をカバーするという。
2020年に亡くなったアンディ・ギルと交流があり、その硬質かつ独創的なギターから多大な影響を受けてきたという布袋は、「アンディのギターはロック・ギターの固定観念を打ち破り“ギターは打楽器だ”と僕に教えてくれた。彼のギターに出会わなければ僕は退屈なギタリストになっていただろう。シニカルで気難しいイメージのアンディだが、実際は心優しくユーモアに溢れる優しき紳士だった。このトリビュートに込めた思いが、天国のアンディと世界中のGOFファン、そして独創的なスピリットを持ったギタリストたちに届くことを祈る」とコメントを寄せている。
トリビュートアルバムは5月14日にリリース予定で、トム・モレロやレッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズのフリーとジョン・フルシアンテ、マッシヴ・アタックのロバート・デル・ナジャ、ゲイリー・ニューマン、キリング・ジョーク、La Rouxらが参加する。アートワークはダミアン・ハーストが担当するそうだ。
