北米ツアー19日目、最終日となったのはメキシコシティ・Pabellón Oeste del Palacio de los Deportes 公演。BAND-MAIDのメキシコでのお給仕は、実に5年ぶりとなる。ハリケーンなどの影響で豪雨となったこの日だったが、会場に駆けつけたファンは公演開始の1時間前から「BAND-MAID！BAND-MAID！」とコールが鳴り止まないほどの熱量で、天候などもどこ吹く風。前回のメキシコ公演でも開演1時間前にコールが沸き起こっていたとのことで、メキシコ公演ではもはや事前のコールもお約束となっているようだ。待ちに待ったお給仕ということもあり、開演前ながら満員の会場は大歓声に包まれる異様なほどの盛り上がりとなっていた。


暗転した会場にSEが流れると、観客から自発的なカウントダウンが沸き起こる。大歓声に迎えられメンバーが登場すると、この日も「DOMINATION」からスタート。終始割れんばかりのコールが続き、メンバーの一挙手一投足に歓声が巻き起こるなど、ご主人様・お嬢様の熱量は増していくばかり。新曲「Shambles」も早速披露したほか、久しぶりのメキシコお給仕とあって、ミュージックビデオでもおなじみの「After Life」「Unleash!!!!!」「influencer」なども組み込んだセットリストにはご主人様・お嬢様も大興奮。


演奏が終わると間髪入れずに歓声が沸き起こる興奮の渦のなか披露されたバラード「Memorable」「Daydreaming」のパートでは、一部の観客がスマートフォンのライトを点灯させ始めると徐々に光が広がり、右に左に光が揺れる圧巻の光景が広がっていく。セットリストに併せて、会場の盛り上がりも緩急のある展開を見せるなど、メキシコ独特のエモーショナルな反応には驚かされる。


小鳩ミクによるコールアンドレスポンスを行う“おまじないタイム”の他、MISAがメキシコプロレスである「ルチャ・リブレ」レスラー風のマスクを被って登場するなど、トーク場面ではクールな演奏とのギャップで笑いも起こしていく。BAND-MAIDの見た目と演奏のギャップはもちろん、トークと演奏のギャップで更に彼女たちの魅力にはまってしまうのは、万国共通かもしれない。


SAIKIによる「Jump!Jump!」のコールに併せて会場が縦に揺れているかのような錯覚を覚えるほどの盛り上がりを見せたラストの「NO GOD」まで、この日も全20曲を演奏。SAIKI、小鳩ミクが「Gracias！」と叫んだあと最後は「adiós！」と全員笑顔で鳴り止まない「BAND-MAID！」コールのなか、ステージを後にした。

2022年の全米ツアーでは訪れなかった初開催地を中心に、野外フェス4本、単独公演15本に亘る全19公演となった2023年の北米ツアー。BAND-MAIDの公演を待ち侘びていた現地ファンを熱狂の渦に巻き込み、ソールドアウト続出の北米ツアーを大盛況のなか締め括った。


The 19th and final stop on BAND-MAID's 2023 North American tour was in Mexico City, at the Pabellón Oeste del Palacio de los Deportes. This was the band's first OKYUJI in Mexico in five years.

Though effects of a passing hurricane brought heavy rainfall, that didn't keep away the fans, who gathered more than an hour beforehand at the theater, undaunted by the bad weather and cheering "BAND-MAID! BAND-MAID!" The last OKYUJI in Mexico had started off the same way, making it seem like the cheers starting an hour early is part of the Mexico masters and princesses' traditions. At this particularly long-awaited OKYUJI, the theater resounded with shouts and cheers, and the crowd was fired up before the show could even begin.


When the lights went down and the sound system started up, the audience began counting down aloud. The band appeared onstage amid loud cheering and once again began the show with "DOMINATION". Every move the band made drew more cheers from the audience of passionate masters and princesses. Further delighting the assembled fans were the new song "Shambles" and, for the sake of the Mexican fans who had been anticipating this OKYUJI, a selection of the band's singles that had gained recognition from their music videos, including "After Life", "Unleash!!!!!", and "influencer".

The end of each song brought more cheering and excitement from the crowd, and for the ballads "Memorable" and "Daydreaming", fans illuminated the screens of their cell phones and waved them along with the music, creating a swaying sea of light. The audience's fervor built higher with every new song, bringing the astonishing level of excitement to the OKYUJI that only Mexican fans can.


Apart from MIKU's beloved Omajinai Time, MISA had her own memorable moment when she came out on stage wearing a lucha libre wresting mask, drawing big laughs with the contrast between her comical look and her cool demeanor while playing bass. This contrast between the band's personalities while playing versus while talking, in addition to the image of their costumes and that of their music, might just be something that transcends national borders.

The band played 20 songs in all, concluding with "NO GOD", which made for a memorable finale when the whole audience responded to SAIKI calling out "Jump! Jump!" in impressive sync. With SAIKI and MIKU calling out "Gracias!" and "Adiós!" before they left the stage and cheers of "BAND-MAID!" from the audience following them out, this OKYUJI ended with smiles on every face.

Focusing on areas they didn't visit in 2022, the 2023 North American tour concluded with four music festival performances and fifteen OKYUJI, for a grand total of nineteen shows. The enthusiastic devotion of the fans that lead to one sold-out show after another once again made this BAND-MAID tour a resounding success.
