ザ・ビートルズが、ジョン・レノンが歌う「Yellow Submarine」のデモ音源を初公開した。来週リリースされる『Revolver』のスペシャル・エディションに「Yellow Submarine (Songwriting Work Tape / Part 1)」として収録される。
『Revolver』スペシャル・エディションのリミックスを手掛けたジャイルズ・マーティンは、「これが存在するとは知らなかった。思いもよらぬ発見で、驚いた」と『USA TODAY』に話している。「これをやっていてワクワクしたことの一つが、僕が体験したのと同じことを人々も体験するってところだ。蜘蛛の巣をかき分け、ゴールドを見つける──それを他の人々に伝達したい」
「Yellow Submarine」はリンゴ・スターがリード・ヴォーカルを担い、『Revolver』（1966年）に収録された。
ザ・ビートルズは今週、「Yellow Submarine (Songwriting Work Tape / Part 1)」ほか、「Got To Get You Into My Life (Second Version / Unnumbered Mix)」の音源も公開している。
