エルトン・ジョン、ロイヤル・ウェディングでパフォーマンス

土曜日（5月19日）、英国ウィンザー城で執り行われたヘンリー王子とアメリカ人の女優メーガン・マークルの結婚式に出席したエルトン・ジョンは、その後開かれた披露宴でパフォーマンスしたそうだ。
英国の新聞『Daily Mail』によると、ヘンリー王子からの「ここにピアノをプレイできる人はいますか？」との問いに応える形でステージに上がり、600人ほどの招待客を前に「Your Song」「Tiny Dancer」「Circle Of Life」「I’m Still Standing」をパフォーマンスしたという。
ダイアナ妃と親しかったエルトンは、1997年、彼女が亡くなったときに追悼曲「Candle In The Wind 1997」を発表。葬儀でもパフォーマンスした。2011年に執り行われたウィリアム王子の結婚式にも出席している。
Classic FMによると、聖ジョージ礼拝堂で行なわれた結婚式では、オーケストラや聖歌隊の演奏ほか、2016年にBBCヤング・ミュージシャン・オブ・ザ・イヤー賞に輝いた19歳のチェロ奏者Sheku Kanneh-Masonによる「Evening Of Roses」、Karen GibsonとThe Kingdom Choirによる「Stand By Me」のパフォーマンスがあったという。
