ジュリアン・レノン、亡き父の「イマジン」を初パフォーマンス
ジュリアン・レノンが、ウクライナの人々への支援を目的に国際支援団体グローバル・シチズンが展開する＜Stand Up For Ukraine＞キャンペーンのため、父ジョン・レノンの楽曲「Imagine」をパフォーマンスした。
ジュリアンが公の場で「Imagine」をプレイするのは、これが初めて。ギタリスト、ヌーノ・ベッテンコートの伴奏とバッキング・ヴォーカルと共に歌いあげた。
ジュリアンは映像に、こんなメッセージを添えている。「ウクライナでの戦争は想像を絶する悲劇だ……人間として、そしてアーティストとして、僕はできる限りのことをせねばならないと感じている。今日、初めて公の場で父の曲“IMAGINE”をパフォーマンスした。なぜ、今になって？ 僕は常にこう言ってきた。僕が“IMAGINE”を歌うことを検討するとしたら、それは“世界の終わり”のときだけだ……。それに、父の歌詞は世界の平和を願う僕らの共同意識を反映しているからだ。この曲の中では、僕らは一瞬であれ、愛と連帯感が僕らにとっての現実となる場所へ行くことができるからだ……。この曲は僕らみんなが望んでいる、トンネルの終わりに見える光を示している……」
残忍な暴力により、罪のない多くの人が避難せざるを得ない今、「世界のリーダーたち、“IMAGINE”の精神を信じる全ての人々に避難民たちのために立ち上がるよう要請する！ どうか心からの支援と寄付を。#StandUpForUkraine」と呼び掛けている。
