メタリカ、500人収容のクラブでサプライズ・ギグ開催

メタリカが木曜日（9月16日）、米サンフランシスコにある、わずか500人収容のクラブThe Independentでサプライズ公演を開いた。
彼らのホームタウンで行われたこの特別公演は当日、告知され、会場で売りに出されたチケット（20ドル／約2,200円）は当然のこと、瞬く間に売り切れた。メタリカがファンの前でライヴ・パフォーマンスするのは、バンドの公式サイトによると738日ぶりだったという。
『Revolver』によると、以下の16曲がプレイされたそうだ。

Setlist.fmによると、デビュー・アルバム『Kill ‘Em All』（1983年）に収録された「Whiplash」がショウのオープニングでパフォーマンスされるのは、これが初めてだったという。

このスペシャル・ギグでライブ活動を再開したメタリカは、この後、アメリカで開かれるいくつかのフェスティバルに出演予定で、＜Louder Than Life＞＜Aftershock＞＜Welcome To Rockville＞ではそれぞれ2日間プレイする。
