クラフトワークの創設者の1人、フローリアン・シュナイダー死去
クラフトワークの創設者の1人、フローリアン・シュナイダーが、先月、亡くなっていたことが明らかになった。癌を患っていたという。4月7日に73歳の誕生日を迎えたばかりだった。
BBCによると、「短期間の癌との闘病後、誕生日の数日後に死去した」との声明が出されたという。英国の新聞『The Guardian』紙はすでに葬儀が行われたと伝えている。
シュナイダーは60年代後半、ドイツの大学で音楽を勉強中、ラルフ・ヒュッターと出会い、クラフトワークの前身ともいえるオルガニザツィオーンを結成。1970年に、テクノポップのパイオニアとなるクラフトワークが誕生した。
グループの要の1人であったシュナイダーは、その独創的なサウンド、技術面での革命において多くのミュージシャンに多大な影響を与え、デヴィッド・ボウイはアルバム『Heroes』（1977年）に収録したインストゥルメンタルの楽曲をシュナイダーに敬意を表し「V-2 Schneider」と名付けている。
彼は2008年にグループを離れることとなったが、2003年までにクラフトワークが発表した10枚全てのアルバムをヒュッターと共に制作した。
シュナイダーの訃報を知ったウルトラヴォックスのミッジ・ユーロは「時代の先を行き過ぎた」と、元オレンジ・ジュースのエドウィン・コリンズは「彼は神だった」と追悼の言葉をあげた。
