メタリカ、新型コロナウイルス救済策に35万ドルを寄付
メタリカは木曜日（4月2日）、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大を受け、彼らの慈善団体All Within My Hands Foundationを通じ、4団体に計35万ドル（約3,800万円）を寄付すると発表した。
フードバンクを支援するFeeding America、医療関係者へ彼らが必要とする用具／機器を届けるDirect Relief、音楽業界のクルーたちをサポートするLive NationのCrew Nationへ10万ドルずつ、感染拡大の影響で失業した人たち、閉店することになったレストラン、ホテルなどを助けるUSBG National Charity Foundationへ5万ドルを贈るという。
メタリカは3月下旬、家にこもる人たちのために、過去のライブ・パフォーマンス映像を毎週月曜日に配信していくシリーズ＜#MetallicaMondays＞を開始。これまでに視聴者から計1万5,000ドルの寄付があったそうだ。
「いま、君たちの多くが困難なときにあるのはわかっている。しかし、もしこれらの団体を支援したいとの思いがあるならば、彼らに直接、救いの手を差し伸べて欲しい」とも呼び掛けている。
