エド・シーラン、エルトン本人を前に彼の曲演奏も緊張感ゼロ
もはやエルトン・ジョンを“友人”と呼ぶことができるエド・シーランは、エルトンへのトリビュート公演＜Elton John: I’m Still Standing – A GRAMMY Salute＞に出演し、本人を前に彼の曲をパフォーマンスしたときも緊張することはなかったそうだ。
Recording Academyが公開した映像の中で、シーランはエルトンについてこう語った。「エルトンは、僕の人生の様々な段階において、僕の人生にいろいろ、たくさんの影響を与えてきた。小さいとき、彼の曲により音楽に興味を持ち、ティーンエイジャーの時代には彼の曲にインスパイアされ曲作りにのめり込み、大人になってからは、音楽業界の奇妙なしきたりをやり過ごすのを助けてくれた。要するに、いつも僕を助けてくれている」
スティーヴィー・ワンダーのトリビュート公演では緊張したというが、「ラッキーなことに僕は（エルトンを）友人と呼ぶことができるから、緊張はしなかった。友人に向かって歌っているようだった」

1月末にNYマディソン・スクエア・ガーデンで開催され、今週火曜日（4月10日）アメリカでCBSより放送された＜Elton John: I’m Still Standing – A GRAMMY Salute＞公演には、シーランほか、レディー・ガガ、マイリー・サイラス、ジョン・レジェンド、サム・スミス、コールドプレイのクリス・マーティン、リトル・ビッグ・タウン、ショーン・メンデス、SZA、ケシャらが出演した。
