イギー・ポップ＆アンダーワールドがコラボEPをリリース
2年前、エレクトロニック・ミュージックを聴いていると死にたくなると発言していたイギー・ポップだが、その分野の練達の士、アンダーワールドとコラボし、EP『Teatime Dub Encounters』を制作した。
ポップとアンダーワールドのリック・スミスはもともと、映画『T2 トレインスポッティング』（2017年）のために音楽を共作しようと計画していたそうだ。結局、サウンドトラックには両アーティストの曲が収録されたが、このときコラボは実現しなかった。
アンダーワールドは、EP『Teatime Dub Encounters』に収録される「I’ll See Big」の歌詞について「T2トレインスポッティングの根底にあるテーマ、友情についてイギーがダニー・ボイル（監督）と交した会話にインスパイアされた」と説明している。
「ホテルの一室で密かに行なわれたレコーディングの結果」というEP『Teatime Dub Encounters』には、先月末にサプライズ・リリースされた「Bells & Circles」に加え、「Trapped」「I’ll See Big」「Get Your Shirt」の計4曲を収録している。
