米サンフランシスコ市、12月16日を“メタリカ・デー”に

米サンフランシスコのロンドン・ブリード市長が、同市において12月16日を“メタリカ・デー”とすると宣言した。
この日行われた記者会見には、メタリカのラーズ・ウルリッヒ（Dr）とロバート・トゥルヒーヨ（B）も出席。ブリード市長は、「メタリカのメンバー達はミュージシャンとしても人としても類まれで、彼らはこのコミュニティを構成する人達の一部です。彼らは幅広い世代の人々の人生に影響を与えてきました。人々がサンフランシスコについて話すとき、まずはケーブルカー、そしてメタリカについて話します。サンフランシスコ市郡を代表し、私は本日を“メタリカ・デー”とすることを宣言します」と話したという。

メタリカはこの日から19日まで、バンド結成40周年を記念し、サンフランシスコを占拠する＜Metallica : San Francisco Takeover＞イベントを開催する。メタリカが17日と19日に、2019年に＜S&M2＞公演を開いたChase Centerでパフォーマンスするほか、サンフランシスコ各地で様々なバンドのライヴ、展示会、コンサート映画の上映、パーティーなどが開かれる。
