リチャード・アシュクロフト、新作でリアム・ギャラガーとデュエット
リチャード・アシュクロフトが10月にニュー・アルバム『Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1』をリリースすることを発表した。ザ・ヴァーヴおよびソロのバックカタログから12曲を選出し、新たにアコースティック・ヴァージョンをレコーディングしたという。
アシュクロフトはロックダウン解除後、彼の周りのコミュニティと再び繋がる手段として、このプロジェクトの始動を決断。素晴らしいミュージシャンである旧友たちと集まることにしたという。それにより、オリジナルの良さを再確認しつつ、曲に対し新たな情熱を見出し、今だからできるヴォーカル表現を活かした新ヴァージョンが誕生した。
レコーディングには、Wil Malone（ストリング・アレンジメント）、Chuck Leavell（Pf）、Roddy Bloomfield率いるブラス・セクション、Steve Wyreman（G,Backing Vocal）らが参加し、アシュクロフトとChris Potterがプロデュースした。
「Bittersweet Symphony」「A Song for the Lovers」「Sonnet」「C’mon People (We’re Making It Now)」「Weeping Willow」「Lucky Man」「This Thing Called Life」「Space & Time」「Velvet Morning」「Break the Night with Colour」「One Day」「The Drugs Don’t Work」の12曲がセレクトされ、全英1位に輝いたソロ・デビュー・アルバム『Alone With Everybody』（2000年）に収録された「C’Mon People (We’re Making It Now)」では、リアム・ギャラガーとデュエットしたという。
