ブリンク182、いまさらだが数字の部分をどう呼ぶべきか、Twitterで議論勃発
ブリンク182の数字の部分をどう呼ぶべきか、Twitter上でちょっとした論争が巻き起こった。日本語でいえば、“百八十二”なのか“一八二”なのかといったところだが、英語だとさらにややこしい。
きっかけは、英国人のコメディアン、ジェイムス・コーデンが司会を務めるTV番組『The Late Late Show With James Corden』の脚本家の1人Ian Karmel（アメリカ人）からの「英国人は、Blink-182を“ブリンク・ワン・エイト・トゥー”と呼ぶ。僕は、だから彼らが革命戦争に敗れたって言ってるわけじゃないけど…」というつぶやき。

アメリカでは“ワン・エイティ・トゥー”と呼ばれているそうで、「ワン・エイティ・トゥーにきまってる」との声が上がったり、「ワン・ハンドレッド・エイティ・トゥーか、ワン・エイト・トゥーだ。ワン・エイティ・トゥーなんて英語にはない」との意見が出れば、「＄1.82のとき、僕は“ワン・エイティ・トゥー”って言ってる。だから存在しないわけじゃない」と反論する人も現れた。
ジェイムス・コーデンは、「僕ら（英国）もアメリカも間違ってる。彼らは正確にはBlink ワン・ハンドレッド・エイティ・トゥーと呼ばれるべきだ」と参戦。

そこに至り、ようやくブリンク182のメンバー、マーク・ホッパスが介入したが、彼は数字の読み方より気になることがあるそうだ。
「ありがとう、ジェイムス。ワン・エイティ・トゥーと呼ぶ人達もいる。ワン・エイト・トゥーと呼ぶ人達もいる。でも、なんであれ、僕らはblink-182のBは小文字であるべきだという事実を見失ってると思うな」とつぶやいた。

一体どちらが正しいのか──創設メンバーのトム・デロングによると、どちらも間違いで「ブリンク・エイティーン・トゥー」だという。彼はこのツイートで、ブリンクのBを大文字で記しているが……。
