【第44回グラミー賞】コールドプレイがオルタナティブ・アルバム、トゥールがベスト・メタル・パフォーマンスを受賞
テレビ中継開始前の第44回グラミー賞が、意外な結果を見せた。Coldplayの『Parachutes』が、Radioheadの『Amnesiac』、Bjork『Vespertine』、Tori Amos『StrangeLittleGirls』、Fatboy Slim『Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars』を打ち負かし、best alternative music album（ベスト・オルタナティブ・ミュージック・アルバム）を受賞した。
またToolの「Schism」が、System Of A Down「Chop Suey!」、Slipknotの「Left Behind」、Slayer「Disciple」、Black Sabbath「The Wizard」を抜いて、best metal performance（ベスト・メタル・パフォーマンス）に輝いた。
