ジェフ・ベック、死去
英国のギター・レジェンド、世界3大ギタリストと称されたジェフ・ベックが、1月10日、78歳で急逝した。
11日、公式サイトやソーシャルメディアを通じ、「彼の家族に代わり、非常に深い悲しみと共に、ジェフ・ベックが亡くなったとの知らせをお伝えします。突如、細菌性髄膜炎にかかり、昨日、安らかに息を引き取りました」と訃報が伝えられた。
アート・カレッジ在学中から盛んに音楽活動を行っていた彼は、1965年、エリック・クラプトンに代わりヤードバーズに加入。続くジェフ・ベック・グループ、ソロ、ジミー・ペイジやエリック・クラプトンらとのコラボなど、50年以上にわたり、独自のスタイルで世界中の音楽ファン、ギタリストたちを魅了、感嘆させてきた。
2022年夏には、ジョニー・デップとのコラボレーション・アルバム『18』をリリースし、11月までツアーを続けていた。
ジェフ・ベック・グループの元バンド・メイトで旧友のロッド・スチュワートは、「ジェフ、友よ、君は最高に偉大だった。何もかもに感謝だ。RIP」と、ジミー・ペイジは「彼のテクニックは独創的だった。彼のイマジネーションは無限のようだった。ジェフ、君の何百万のファンと同じように、この先、僕は君のことを恋しく思う。ジェフ・ベック、安らかに」と、追悼の言葉をあげている。
