エルヴィス・コステロ、ボーイ・ジョージら、テリー・ホールを追悼
ザ・スペシャルズのテリー・ホールの突然の訃報に、ミュージシャン仲間から多くの追悼の言葉が寄せられている。
ザ・スペシャルズのデビュー・アルバム『The Specials』（1979年）をプロデュースしたエルヴィス・コステロは、「悲しいことに、（ザ・スペシャルズのギタリスト）リンヴァル・ゴールディングから、昨晩、テリー・ホールが亡くなったとの知らせを受けた。テリーの声は、『The Specials』の偽りがなく必要不可欠な収録曲に完璧な楽器だった。あの正直さは、彼の多くの曲で悲喜こもごも聴くことができる。彼の家族と友人たちへお悔やみを」と追悼している。
カルチャー・クラブのボーイ・ジョージは「テリー・ホールのことを知り、とても悲しい！ アーティストとして彼のことが大好きだった。悲しい日だ！」と、故人を偲んだ。
このほか、レイジ・アゲインスト・ザ・マシーン、ビリー・ブラッグ、UB40、ザ・リバティーンズ、バッドリー・ドローン・ボーイら、たくさんのミュージシャンや音楽ファンから追悼の言葉があがっている。
ザ・スペシャルズとファン・ボーイ・スリーでホールと活動を共にしたネヴィル・ステイプルは、「日曜日にテリー・ホールが亡くなったと聞き、心から悲しかった」「僕ら、テリーの具合が良くないと知っていたが、最近までどれほど深刻なのか理解していなかった。僕らは一緒に、2023年の音楽共同契約を確認したばかりだった。これは大ショックだ」と、突然の訃報に嘆き悲しんでいる。

The Specials were a celebration of how British culture was envigorated by Caribbean immigration but the onstage demenour of their lead singer was a reminder that they were in the serious business of challenging our perception of who we were in the late 1970s.
