ピーター・フランプトン、米小学校での銃撃事件「何か手を打つ前にあとどれくらい死なねばならないのか」
火曜日（5月24日）に米テキサス州の小学校で起きた銃撃事件に対し、ギタリストのピーター・フランプトンが、銃が容易に入手できる現状を嘆いた。
繰り返される惨事に憤りを覚えるフランプトンは、「子供たち／大人たちが容易に銃を入手できる状況を止めるのに何かするまで、あとどれくらいの人たちが死んだり傷つかねばならないのか」とつぶやいた。
「26年前、スコットランドのダンブレーン小学校に銃を持った男が侵入し、16人の子供と1人の教師を殺害した。UKの政府は厳しい銃規制法の制定という対処をした。それから9,400以上の日が過ぎ、UKでは学校での銃乱射事件は0だ」と、祖国イギリスでの状況を引き合いに述べている。
また、同じくギタリストのダグ・アルドリッチは、「いますぐ今日から全ての学校に警備員が必要だ……我々が、銃を持つ病んだサイコどもの要因を改善するまで、我々は世界中の学校を守る必要がある……今日からだ」「政治家がこの問題を解決するまで、学区は学校を守るセキュリティが必要だ。俺らの税金で今すぐ警備員を雇え」とつぶやき、被害者の家族や友人たちへ追悼の言葉を送っている。
24日にテキサス州ユバルディの小学校で起きた銃乱射事件では、児童18人を含む21人が殺害され、18歳の容疑者も現場に駆け付けた警察官に撃たれて死亡したと報じられている。
