ジャスティン・ビーバーの妻「ライム病を見くびらないで」
ジャスティン・ビーバーがライム病と診断されたと公表したところ、お見舞いや支援の言葉だけでなく、「大した病気ではない」「ジャスティンは大騒ぎし過ぎ」など心無い反応もあったそうだ。
これに対し、ジャスティンの妻ヘイリーが反論した。彼女は「ライム病の深刻さを軽んじようとしている人たち」宛てに、「どうか、自分でリサーチし、長年これに苦しむ人たちの話を聞いてみて。自分が理解していない病気をからかったり、見くびるなんてありえない。必要なのは学ぶこと」とつぶやいた。
また、モデル仲間のジジ＆ベラ・ハディッド姉妹と彼女の母親ヨランダがライム病に関する情報を与えてくれたと感謝し、同じくライム病に苦しんだアヴリル・ラヴィーンへ「愛を送りたい。この病気について人々に知識を与えてくれて、ありがとう。あなたは素晴らしい」とツイートした。
For those who are trying to downplay the severity of Lyme disease. Please do your research and listen to the stories of people who have suffered with it for years. Making fun of and belittling a disease you don’t understand is never the way, all it takes is educating yourself.

ジャスティンは現地時間の1月8日、SNSを通じ、「最近、ライム病と診断されただけでなく、僕は皮膚や脳の機能、エネルギーなど健康全般に影響する深刻な慢性疾患を患っていた」と告白した。
今月終わりからYouTube限定で公開されるドキュメンタリーの中で詳細が明かされるという。
