ポール・マッカートニー、子供たちに絵本を読み聞かせ
初の絵本『Hey Grandude!』を出版したポール・マッカートニーが、先週、ロンドン中心部にある本屋Waterstones Piccadillyで朗読＆サイン会を開いた。
ショーウィンドウや店内に特別なディスプレイが施され、ポールは絵本の中から飛び出してきたようなリビングルームのセットにて、小学校低学年の子供たちを前に『Hey Grandude!』を朗読した。

『Hey Grandude!』はまた、ポール本人のナレーションによるオーディオ・ブックも出版され、ポールのTwitterでその一部音声と録音の模様を収めた映像が公開されている。オーディオ・ブックには、インストゥルメンタルの曲も収録されているそうだ。

『Hey Grandude!』は日本語版『グランデュードのまほうのコンパス』が、11月上旬に潮出版社から発刊予定。
幼い子供の間にもゲームやインターネットが普及する現代社会だが、ポールは「1日の終わり、子供たちに本を読むことで1日を終わりにするのが、僕は好きだ。それで彼らがウトウトするのを見ると、素晴らしい満足感が得られる」と、読み聞かせを推奨している。
