デヴィッド・ギルモア、チャリティーのために120本以上のギターを競売に
デヴィッド・ギルモアが、この夏、約120本のギターをオークションに出品する。その中には、「Money」「Shine On You Crazy Diamond」「Comfortably Numb」でプレイした“Black Strat”、シリアルナンバー0001のStratocaster、ライブで「Comfortably Numb」を演奏するときに愛用していたOvationも含まれているという。
ギルモアは、「これらのギターは僕にとても良くしてくれていた」と『Rolling Stone』誌に話した。「僕の友達だ。僕にたくさんの音楽を与えてくれた。僕のもとを去り、誰か別の人に仕えるときが来たって思ってる。そして、これで得たお金により世の役に立つことがたくさんできる」
オークションは6月20日に競売会社クリスティーズのニューヨーク支店で開催され、収益はチャリティー活動に充てられる。オークション前には、ロンドン、ロサンゼルス、ニューヨークでこれらギターの展示会も開かれるそうだ。

当然、ギター・コレクションの中には手放したくないものもあり、このオークションの後、ギルモアのもとには20本くらいが残るという。
