Aitch、イアン・カーティスの壁画塗りつぶしを釈明
英国マンチェスター出身のラッパーAitchが、自身のアルバムのプロモーションの一環で、マンチェスター市内にあったジョイ・ディヴィジョンのイアン・カーティスの壁画が塗りつぶされたことについて釈明した。
火曜日（8月16日）、同市Port Streetにある住宅の壁に描かれたカーティスの肖像画が黒く塗りつぶされ、Aitchのファースト・アルバム『Close To Home』のアートワークに入れ替えられる様子がSNSやメディアで取り上げられ、物議を醸した。
Aitchはこれに直ちに応答。同日、「Port Streetにあるアイコニックなイアン・カーティスの壁画が俺のアルバムのアートワークに塗り替えられたことが発覚した。俺がこれを知ったのは初めてだ。俺とチームはすぐに修正する。俺が、イアンのような地元のヒーローに無礼をはたらこうなんて思うわけがない」「ビルボードのロケーションを選んだのは俺じゃない。初めて見た。今すぐに何とかする」とつぶやいた。
ジョイ・ディヴィジョンのベーシストだったピーター・フックはこれに「@OfficialAitch、素晴らしい意思表示に感謝する」と反応している。
カーティスの壁画は2020年秋、グラフィティ・アーティストAkseにより描かれた。
It’s come to light that the iconic Ian Curtis mural on Port Street has been painted over with my album artwork. This is the first time I’ve heard of this, me and my team are getting this fixed pronto. No way on earth would I want to disrespect a local hero like Ian.
